I’ll say to to clear up any potential confusion any of you might have about the Oscars controversy between Will Smith and Chris Rock… Will Smith’s a huge asshole for what he did. Any way you slice it, if you somehow justify what he did to “dEfEnD jAdA” then you’re an even bigger asshole, because as of today even Will Smith’s walking his actions back with a public apology to Chris.
Smith went to posting on social media today to express his deep regret for his actions at this year’s Oscar ceremony where he publicly slapped comedian, Chris Rock, for making a joke about Smith’s wife. I’ll yield this… Sure, for a massively woke mob audience with the Oscar elites, Rock probably should’ve kept this one out of the set list. However, after today’s apology video it seems not even Smith thinks it was remotely the right move.
There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment. No part of me that thinks that is the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insult.
In his video Smith apologizes to Chris directly for the first time since the incident back in March. He also notes, though he’s reach out to apologize to Rock in person, Chris has declined to speak to Smith until he’s ready. Respectable, considering the man was humiliated in front of millions of people.

I respect Smith for finally having the balls to come out and admit he’s wrong. Though I think he’s more remorseful for the repercussions of his actions than the slap itself, it does show Smith has at least a little more redeem-ability than the incident displayed. Regardless, he’ll have 10 more years of Oscars suspension to think about it.
