This morning Tiger Woods made it official by teeing off alongside his son, Charlie, in the two-day PNC championship event. The big cat hasn’t teed it up competitively since his severe leg injury sustained during a violent car crash back in February of this year, an accident from which many thought Tiger would never recover enough to play at the professional level again. But as Tiger has done to fans and critics alike for the last 25 years he’s surprised everyone by teeing it up once again at the competitive level, and in completely Tiger fashion, he split the fairway on his very first shot.
So far the father-son pairing is doing decent on the day, already -1 thru 2 holes and 4 shots back from the leaders at the top who are 6 holes ahead of them. What’s crazy to think is his son’s only 12 years old and could arguably carry the weight of the pairing if his dad’s injury starts bugging him at some point in the tournament. I mean have you seen this kid swing?!
Some people will play their entire lives without hitting anything within 3 feet of the hole and this kid seems to do it on a regular basis… AT 12 YEARS OLD! Wouldn’t be surprised if Tiger isn’t the only Woods we see with a green jacket in our lifetime.
There’s a lot of sunlight left in Orlando, Florida and there seems to be even more left in Tiger’s career. As one of the many kids who grew up looking up to Tiger both as a golfer and a sports icon in general I’m absolutely pumped to see him playing again. He’s a long ways from throwing on another green jacket, but who knows. It is Tiger Woods we’re talking about. The sunnovabitch might just do it again.
