It’s only week 4 and the NFL already has us looking forward to the Super Bowl. Earlier this week the league announced next year’s 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show will feature 5 major artists including Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Eminem. With the championship game taking place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California the lineup of mostly West Coast rap icons will keep in theme with what is sure to be some kind of California related track setlist.

I don’t think I’ve actually looked forward to a Super Bowl halftime show like this since… well, ever. Thank God the NFL actually booked decent artists people actually want to hear instead of headlining someone like Demi Lovato. Now we’ll actually have a change to hear some of raps biggest songs of the last couple decades with Dr. Dre and Eminem taking the stage together for the first time in what feels like forever. If they play “Forget About Dre” and then nothing else I will be more than satisfied but I’m sure Snoop, Kendrick and Mary J. Blige will have a few bangers to throw in as well.
The only challenge to this halftime lineup will be censoring every explicit song these guys will sing, which most certainly will be pretty much every one of them. If they play “The next Episode”, I think the guy hitting the censor button will be breaking a sweat immediately with potential carpel tunnel complications following the show. If this guy sues for damages he’ll have a case with how many times the N and F work will undoubtedly be cut out of every other song. As long as Lizzo doesn’t run out on stage to make a surprise appearance this show will be the greatest halftime show since Spongebob’s orchestra.
