Last night we went 2/3 on picks with a shutout victory for the Carolina Hurricanes and an easily obliterated over for the Predators vs. Blue Jackets game. While we missed on the Canucks topping the Kings, mostly due to COVID issues on Vancouver that were not made apparent until it was too late, the game did go to OT so we were almost perfect in last night’s picks. With that said, 2 for 3 ain’t bad so tonight we’re gonna let it ride in the NHL with this New Years Eve edition of the Tap sportsbook picks:
Washington Capitals PL -1.5 (-175) – The Caps are coming off a massive victory over the Nashville Predators from Wednesday night, one which brought head coach, Peter Laviolette, into the top 10 for wins by a coach. While the achievement was huge for the team, there’s still unfinished business for Ovechkin who is still looking for the overall most powerplay goals in Capitals history. Detroit’s young, fast and has a good offense, but I see the Caps taking this one tonight with at least a 2 goal spread.
Tampa Bay Lightning ML (-120) – As the top team in the league, Tampa Bay’s 9-3 loss to the Florida Panthers last night was arguably the worst loss they’ve suffered so far this season. While the New York Rangers continue to surprise with their speed and ability to score, I think Tampa’s going to be pissed tonight about yesterday’s loss and will be out to prove they deserve the top spot in the NHL.
Honestly I’d usually give a third pick for the night but nothing else seems too promising to me. The Oilers are ravaged by COVID issues, the Ducks could surprise with a win over the Golden Knights (which they’ve already done this season), and no over is promising. So tonight rather than adding a third bet we’re throwing everything but your mom’s panties at these games. Put a gold brick on the caps and if you’re really confident, make this baby a parlay and cash out like a champ. LET IT RIDE, BOYS!
