For some reason, it seems like everyone I know has been on some wintry mountain somewhere, posting snowy stories of themselves shredding down and hanging out like they’re born and raised on the ski resort. So it begs the question, what’s with all the skiing lately?
I get it, it’s winter. Skiing and snowboarding is a totally normal and fun thing to do. And I’ve definitely taken notice of the ones who consistently go with friends or family, year after year. But now, I’m just surprised at how many people (who I can guarantee have never been anywhere near a mountain before) are now getting in on the action. It’s like the mountain is the new social hangout spot.
Seriously, in all my years, I’ve never seen THIS many of my friends go skiing or hang out at a ski resort, like they’ve been doing it all their life. And these are some huge-ass mountains, they gotta have some level of winter sport prowess to be able to go down it and not kill themselves, right? When did everyone become world class skiiers out of nowhere?
I’ve only been skiing three times, all of them when I was around the age of 10. My skiing knowledge does not lie far beyond ripping “pizza, french fry, pizza french fry” down the bunny hill. So I’m super surprised to see this many people (especially the ones who have never skied before) bearing the freezing cold for the sake of hanging out.
You can find me riding the lift up. Taking a few pics. And then riding the lift all the way back down to the lodge where I have a nice warm mulled wine waiting for me.
