The wait is almost over. Drake took to Instagram on Monday night to announce that his long-awaited album, ‘Certified Lover Boy,’ will arrive this Friday, September 3rd. While fans are hyped on the news, the rapper turned heads when he shared what will supposedly be the album cover. The artwork shows 12 pregnant women emojis, all with various skin, hair, and shirt colors. Not surprisingly, public reactions to the graphic have been mixed.

If this really is the cover art for ‘Certified Lover Boy,’ well, I don’t really know what to say. In the past, the artist has opted for far moodier album covers, so to see such a stark contrast with his new project is surprising, to say the least. Some fans have commented online that the artwork signifies how the album was originally set to release in January, but was pushed back nine months and will arrive on Labor Day weekend (I see what you did there). Others have said that the pregnant emojis simply represent how this is gonna be an album full of baby-making music.

Drizzy’s announcement comes mere days after Kanye West dropped his latest project, ‘Donda.’ The two artists have supposedly shared some beef lately, with rumors floating around that they would both drop their albums on the same day. Now that ‘Donda’ has arrived, all eyes in the music industry are looking at Drake to see what he’s bringing to the table. Will he match the hype and bring us a set of bangers for the fall, or is Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ about to be some cringy teenage Degrassi love song bullshit? Only Friday will tell.
