Bandy is the coolest sport you’ve never heard of

The other day, I was going through some hockey highlights when out of nowhere, I stumbled across the sport of Bandy. I had never heard of it before but, it’s basically a direct combination of ice hockey and soccer. It’s like hockey, except played with a ball instead of a puck, and the field and nets are absolutely MASSIVE. A sport that’s the speed of hockey plus the size of soccer makes for such a fun game to watch. Let me just say, I am hooked.

It’s not a winter Olympic sport because, well, not too many countries outside of the Russia/Scandinavia area have really ever heard of it. So even though it doesn’t have that much recognition on the world stage, I am so happy that I found out about bandy.

Growing up playing ice hockey, I’ve always been a winter olympics fiend. I can skate, so I feel like I definitely need to find a frozen lake and give bandy a try, as soon as I can.
